How to Remove Grease Stains
Step 1:
Start by using plain white paper towels to blot out as much grease as possible.
Step 2:
Make your Dawn-Water solution by pouring 2 cups of water and 1/8 of Dawn dishwashing
detergent into a spray bottle. Stir or gently shake to ensure a thorough mixture of the solution.
Step 3:
Dampen a clean white cloth with isopropyl rubbing alcohol or WD40. Blot the at the spot until
the spot is removed. Avoid allowing the alcohol to penetrate the back of the carpet and never
pour alcohol directly on the spot.
Step 4:
If a bit of the spot remains, take the Dawn-Water solution you made in step 2 and dampen a
clean white cloth. Gently blot the solution into the stain working the solution down into the
carpet fibers. Continue to blot until the stain is gone.
Step 5:
Spray the spot with water to rinse the solution and rubbing alcohol or WD40 out of the carpet.
Use paper towels to blot away any excess moisture.
Step 6:
Layer several layers of paper towels over the spot and use a small heavy object to hold down
the towels. This will draw out any remaining moisture from the carpet. Leave for 2-4 hours.
Step 7:
Once the area has dried vacuum to restore the carpet’s resiliency.
