Distilled White Wine vinegar

water

spray bottle or cotainer

clean white cloth

plain white paper towels

spray bottle of water

How to Remove Water Stains

Step 1: Make the vinegar-water solution. Pour together equal parts of warm water and distilled white wine vinegar into your spray bottle. Stir or gently shake to ensure a thorough mixture.

Step 2: Take a clean white cloth and dampen it using the vinegar-water solution. Apply to the watermark on your carpet. The pH of the vinegar should help draw the stain out of your carpet. Gently blot the vinegar solution into the stain, but avoid rubbing the carpet

NorCal Pro Tip: Blot the stain in one direction starting from the edge of the stain working your way to the center. This will prevent spreading the stain onto other carpet fibers.

Step 3: Spray the damp area to rinse out the vinegar-water solution. Do not over saturate the carpet, this may damage the carpet’s backing. Blot the area to remove the excess water.

Step 4: Layer several paper towels on the damp area and place a small heavy object on the towels. Allow to dry for 2-4 hours. This will draw out any moisture remaining in the carpet’s fibers.

Step 5: Once the carpet has dried vacuum the are to restore the carpet’s resiliency.

How to clean up water to prevent watermark stains

Step 1: Use a white cloth to soak the water up. Do not rub over the carpet. This may force the water into the carpet’s backing. Apply light pressure to help soak up the water.

Step 2: Use plain white paper towels to blot the area to remove any excess moisture not absorbed by the white cloth.

Step 3: Layer several paper towels on the damp area and place a small heavy object on the towels. Allow to dry for 2-4 hours. This will draw out any moisture remaining in the carpet’s fibers.
